How you will control the lighting in a room is just as important as selecting the proper bulb, trim, and housing.  The proper use of dimmers can add tremendous flexibility and control to your lighting system and will greatly enhance the overall enjoyment of your investment.  Several options are listed below.

Option 1 - All of your light housings are connected to a single on/off switch.  This will allow you to turn all of the lights in a room on or off at one time.  All of the lights will be at full intensity when the switch is on.

Option 2 - All of your light housings are connected to a single dimmer with on/off switch.  This will turn all of the lights in a room on or off at one time and dim all of the lights to the same intensity at one time.

Option 3 - Have independent control of each light in the system and master control of the entire system using one of several lighting control systems from Lutron such as the Spacer system or the Grafik Eye system.  These systems are top of the line but can cost upwards of several thousand dollars for the control system and dimmers alone.  These systems require additional wiring beyond supplying power to the lights.  These systems offer remote control.  If one of these state of the art systems fits within your budget - by all means go for it -  you will not be dissatisfied.  If not, you might be interested in option 4.  Note: Many of these state of the art systems require a certified installer perform the installation and setup of the system.
